2019 Field Day

Field Day 2019 has come and gone, had a good turn out with lots of smiles coupled with an easy setup and tear down prior to the storms which rolled into the area Saturday evening. We ran 2A on generator power and after initial difficulties with phone contacts, both stations shifted to FT8.

The 40 meter efforts were initially crippled by sound card drivers issues on the 40m station. Once that was sorted the QSO rate picked up. Both stations were also hampered by other stations which were not in FT8 Field Day mode, which is incompatible with non-field day mode.

Given we are at or near the bottom of the SFI the propagation was not the best. Between the two station we had good coast to coast coverage. The 20m station used an Inverted-L and the 40 station a vertical.
